Q. Which squash player do you like watching the most?
A.
I love to watch Yawar play. He has great skill and he always gives 100%

Q. Who is the best squash player you have ever watched?

A. Here at Grove Park there have been all sorts of famous, highly ranked and talented squash players. In the old days we used to hold National and International tournaments which brought in the best in the world. I think that one of the best players I have watched must be Geoff Hunt. His athleticism was incredible.

Q. What three words best describe your squash game?
A. Lousy, rotten, abysmal

Q. Which squash player would you most like to beat?
A. I can't say but there are plenty of people down on Mondays that I'd like to have a go at.

Q. Do you have any claims to fame?
A. Not many people know but I used to be a top fencer. I have fenced the Northern Counties and also at England level and I also used to coach the sport too. I don't do it any more - however if a squash game started going the wrong way I'm sure I could use some of my old techniques with my squash racquet.

Q. Do you have any squash ambitions?
A. I'd like to carry on playing squash until I am 75. (Which he has now acheived. So what next, 80?)

Q. What's your greatest squash achievement?
A. Not really got any great achievements. I nearly beat Bob Ashton in the Handicap tournament once - back when he used to be good. (Did he ever used to be good? - ed.)

Q. You have done a few things for the club over the years haven't you?
A. Yes, one or two. I have always supported the club in whatever ways I could. It is a great club and being a member here is fantastic. I served on the committee for twelve years in the position of Treasurer which was a great honour and allowed me to put a little back into the club that gave me so much pleasure.

Thanks Ron for taking the time to answer these questions.
